SAIL SETS
Mix of A1 Class, A1 & A2 tips, Tuesdays 7:30-10:00 pm, Grosvenor-Wentworth Park School, Downing St., Rockingham
Caller: Dottie Welch
The Sail Sets formed out of an Advanced Class that began dancing in the
fall of 1984. The teacher and caller has always been Dottie Welch. In
1984 she had just completed her first summer at Caller's College with
Gloria Roth and was ready to try her wings with a new club and
simultaneously two squares of dancers were ready to learn Advanced. The
name "Sail Sets" was chosen because "A1", the first Advanced program, forms part of a clever sail boat design featured on the Club's badge, created by club member Bob Fowler.
We are now dancing the full Advanced Program on Tuesday evenings
at Grosvenor-Wentworth Park School. We regularly use all the moves in the
Advanced Program from standard positions and explore a few less standard
positions each week. Instruction for new Advanced Dancers begins at 7
p.m. on Tuesday evenings before club when there is sufficient interest.
For more information call 435-4544.
Once each year the Advanced callers in the Maritimes schedule an
Advanced Weekend usually held in Moncton, New Brunswick with a mix of A-1
and A-2 workshops and dancing. Please look for the Advanced Atlantic
Adventure in the Calendar of Events to find the date for this year.
