NB - NS BORDER ROUNDERS
Ph II-IV Rounds - Thrusdays 7:00-10:00 pm, Experimental Farm Pavilion, Nappan
Leaders: Beth & John Dickinson
The NB -NS BORDER ROUNDERS
dance club was formed in 1983 when dancers from the Amherst and Sackville
areas approached John and Beth Dickinson about teaching them some round dances.
The dancers had taken a 10-week course with John Essex in Sackville and were
anxious to learn more. John and Beth were not teachers at the time but they
had been traveling to Moncton for a few years taking classes - as they say
themselves; they were "the only game in town". They began by using tapes but
discovered that this method was not very satisfactory so with the help of
Ancil Mills who loaned them equipment and records, and the encouragement and
support of John Essex and Lawrence and Alice Harrison who had approached them
in the first place, the club was formed and graduated it's first class of 11
couples in May of 1984. For a number of years the club danced at
the Experimental Farm Pavilion in Nappan.
The club presently dances on Thursday nights from
September to the end of May at the Jonathan McCully School in Nappan.
Phase II to IV rounds are taught and danced from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
